Neubauladen / Neubau Welt - Stefan Gandl

I have been looking through the Neubauladen site for months and I really like all of their contemprary work. Neubauladen are a collaborative of Stefan Gandl and Christoph Grunberger based in Berlin. Neubau work prominently with vector drawings and typography. What first caught my eye with their design was their foundry of beautifull typefaces. Having seen the selection of typefaces I couldn't resist investigating through the rest of their site. I was amaized by their work and believe that Neubauladen's work might be the most inspiring work that I have found this year.
Neubauladen have created a foundry of detailed vector patterns and illustrations which have been published into a series of two books.(Pattern book is called Neubau Modul and the illustrations is called Neubau Welt.)
The books illustrate the caperbilities of work that can be produced from the documents which are included with the book on a dvd. The book is also a showcase of what is on the dvd with the catalogue number for easy referance.
With a growing interest in their work I decided to buy a copy of Neubau Welt which is the second audition of the series which includes the illustrated imagery of every day objects and a bonus typface from Neubauladen's foundry. Fortunatelly this book arrived in the post yesterday and it was reassuring that I definitely love the Neubauladen's style.
From the feedback that this project has had over numerous forums I can imagine that these books must have caused some constrovesy across the design industry at their launch back in 2007. The design industry decided that they should create an exhibition to celebrate their work which had it's open ceremony presented by the world aclaimed designer Wim Crouwel. I would have loved to have gone and seen this exhibition.

I would love to have the opportunity to work on a similar project in future, this is the style of work that I would like to associate my work with as a designer. I will hopefully be buying the first addition of this book series in the summer (after I save some money.) Until then I'm sure that Neubau Welt will keep me occupied.
